Young people fighting for their right to a properly funded youth service

Save Haringey Youth Service

A group of young people from across Haringey set up this campaign in October 2010 following concerns after 8 of the 13 boroughs youth centres suddenly closed down after the summer holidays and this was just the beginning, we had to take a stand and fight back.

We started with a petition, which we submitted in Dec 2010 with 2336 signatures. We attended youth council meetings and 200 of us confronted the Cheif Executive of Haringey Council in Nov 2010. We took our fight to the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, the government minister Lynne Featherstone MP and to David Lammy MP

Despite our efforts Haringey Council decided on Feb 24th 2011 to cut the youth service by a further 75%. The fight continues and with over 1400 young people across the borough ready to challenge this decision. This website is
developed to inform the public of the story so far and to provide
regular updates to our progress

We will continue to fight this until they leave our
youth service alone!
